Inspection and verification (Freelander 2)

1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of damage and system integrity. Mechanical factors:

• Check the correct tire pressure, size and tread pattern
• Check for damage to the tire and wheel rim
• Check the wheel fastenings
• Check the power steering fluid level and hydraulic drive for fluid leaks
• Check the condition and tension of the power steering pump drive belt
• Check the power steering pump for secure mounting and for wear, damage, or increased noise
• Check the steering gear assembly for damage, wear and secure mounting
• Check hydraulic lines and cooler lines for damage and proper routing
• Check the steering joints for damage, increased clearance, wear and for secure fastening
• Check the steering column and steering joints for damage, increased clearance, wear and for secure fastening

2. If an obvious cause for the problem you have identified or the problem described by the customer is found, correct it (if possible) before proceeding with further actions.

3. If the cause of the complaint is not visually obvious, clarify the symptom of the malfunction and contact Table of signs of malfunction.
