The IAM CD player is a 6-disc changer located in the center of the instrument panel. The CD changer can play commercial CDs, CD-R and CD-RW formats and MP3-format CDs.

Play recordings in random order


The random play function works in two different modes:
  • Random Playback of CD Tracks
  • Randomly play all tracks on any disc in the CD changer

When the random play function is enabled, all tracks on the selected CD are played in random order. A new play sequence is created only after all tracks on the disc have been played. If another disc is selected while random play is active, random play is cancelled and the new disc is played from the first track.

In multi-disc mode, IAM uses the current track as the first track for random play and then plays an additional two tracks (if any) on that CD. IAM will then randomly select another CD and play three randomly selected tracks. This sequence continues until all tracks from all CDs have been played.

MP3 function


The CD player supports playback of MP3 files. This format allows you to group files into folders. You can also place all files in the root directory on the CD.

It is possible to play MP3 files in random order and repeat mode, just like a regular CD.

Automatic Volume Control (AVC)


The AVC function controls the volume level according to the vehicle speed. As the vehicle speed increases, the volume level is adjusted to compensate for the additional road noise and vehicle noise. There are four settings for AVC:


  • Off
  • Low level
  • Intermediate level
  • High level

The default setting is medium.

Changing the AVC level is made possible by long pressing the TONE button and selecting AVC using the rotary control to change the level.

To calculate the required volume change, the ICM uses the speed sensor signals. The vehicle speed signal is received via the medium-speed CAN bus. The average value of the four wheel speeds is used. If the AVC system receives an erroneous vehicle speed signal, the system does not change the current volume value.

AVC is controlled by the audio system amplifier.

CD Player Error Messages


When an error occurs in the CD player, IAM will alert the user by displaying an error message. It will be displayed until the error is resolved while CD mode is selected. CD related errors do not affect other IAM zones. The user can select different audio modes (sound sources).
