Check if the navigation disc drive shutter is open for the road map disc. Is the navigation disc drive shutter open for road maps?
Yes - GO to C2.
No - Open the navigation disc drive shutter for the road map disc. GO to C2.
C2: check if the road map disc is inserted/removed
Check if you can insert/remove the road map disc. Can a road map disc be inserted/removed?
Yes - The device is working properly.
No - Using the electrical circuit diagrams, check the power and ground connections connected to the navigation control unit (NCM). If the power and ground connections are good, install a new navigation system control unit (NCM) if necessary. Refer to the new module/component installation note at the top of the DTC index.
Pinpoint test D: black screen (navigation map screen is not displayed)
NOTE: Make sure the parking brake is on and the ignition is in the «Auxiliary electrical equipment» or «On».
D1: check the screen saver function
Check if the screen saver function is working. Does the screen saver feature work?
Yes - Press the button on the display panel. GO to D2.
No - GO to D2.
D2: check display backlight
Check if the display backlight is working. Does the display backlight work?
Yes - Refer to the wiring diagrams and check that the GVIF cable is connected correctly between the navigation control unit (NCM) and HLDF display. If the GVIF cable between the navigation control unit (NCM) and the HLDF display is connected correctly, check and install a new GVIF cable if necessary. Refer to the new module/component installation note at the top of the DTC index. If the GVIF cable between the navigation control unit (NCM) and HLDF display is connected correctly and NOT damaged, check and install a new navigation control unit (NCM) if necessary. Refer to the new module/component installation note at the top of the DTC index. Check the system again.
No - Check the HLDF display. Check the system again.
Pinpoint test E: abnormal screen color with navigation map
E1: color bar chart check
Diagnose the display using the color bar chart (PIN code 660). Are the results of the color bar table display diagnostics normal?
Yes - Check the HLDF display. Check the system again.
No Check the road map disc for dirt or scratches. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check that the GVIF cable is connected correctly between the navigation control unit (NCM) and HLDF display. G3: check the number of satellites
On the GPS Navigation Diagnostics Information Screen (PIN code 662), check the number of displayed satellites. The screen displays the number of satellites «0»?

No - GO to G4.
G4: check if symptoms appear in certain places
