Air conditioning compressor (Freelander 2)

CAUTION: Add the required amount of compressor oil.

NOTE: The removal procedure descriptions in this manual may contain installation steps.

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

2. Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. Refer to the procedure: Refrigerant Recovery, Evacuation, and Charging of the Air Conditioning (A/C) System (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).

3. Tightening torque: 24 Nm

Plug all openings. Use new plugs. Lubricate new seals with clean compressor oil.

4. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

5. Remove the lower engine cover. Refer to procedure: Engine Cover (501-02 Front Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

7. Remove the accessory drive belt from the compressor pulley.





9. Tightening torque: 110 Nm



10. Tightening torque: 25 Nm

Installation

1. When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
