The air distribution and filtration system controls the distribution and improves the quality of air entering the front and rear of the passenger compartment. The main elements of the heating and ventilation system are:
- Air ducts
- Adjustable and non-adjustable deflectors
- Cabin Air Purification Filter
Air ducts
Air from the heater is distributed through ducts to various air vents in the instrument panel and to the rear of the vehicle.
The face/side window air supply duct and the windshield air duct form part of the instrument panel assembly.
Each front footwell duct is secured to the side of the heater and to the passenger compartment crossmember with a single screw. The front footwell ducts also serve as mounting locations for the footwell lights.
The rear cabin air ducts are also fixed to the heater. Each air duct runs under the floor covering and is secured to the floor of the car with a single screw located below the front seat.
Adjustable and non-adjustable ventilation deflectors
Adjustable air deflectors allow passengers to control the flow and direction of air coming from the air vents. There are four adjustable air deflectors on the instrument panel; one is installed at each end of the instrument panel and two are installed in the center.
Fixed deflectors are air ducts with a fixed outlet. There are four fixed air deflectors on the instrument panel; one is mounted at each end of the instrument panel and two are mounted along the top edge, below the windshield.
Cabin Air Purification Filter
The cabin air filter is located on the right side behind the instrument panel and is housed in the heater. The filter removes odors and small particles, including pollen, from the air entering the heater.
