Dismantling


1. Remove the oil dipstick.

3. Remove the 31 bolts securing the oil pan to the cylinder block.

NOTE: Mark the position of all bolts as they have different lengths A=M8x60mm; B=M6x80mm; C=M6x40mm. The remaining bolts have dimensions M6x20mm.


4. Remove the oil pan and discard the gasket.

Examination


1. Wipe the pan and mating surface.

Assembly


1. Apply a 2 mm thick bead of sealant to the areas shown in the figure.

1. Apply a 2 mm thick bead of sealant to the areas shown in the figure.

2. Install a new gasket on the pan, put the pan in its place, screw in the mounting bolts, but do not tighten them.

NOTE: Mark the position of the M6 bolts as they have two different lengths.


3. Tighten the 31 bolts securing the upper part of the oil pan to the cylinder block: M6x8.8 mm to 10 N·m, M6x10.9 mm to 12 N·m, M8x8.8 mm to 22 N·m.

4. Wipe the oil filter and the connecting part of the oil drain pipe.

5. After installing 2 new sealing washers, screw in the hollow bolt securing the oil drain pipe from the oil filter to the oil pan and tighten it to a torque of 30 N·m.

Assembly


1. Install the oil pickup pipe.

V8 engine, ENGINE OVERHAUL, Oil pick-up pipe with mesh filter.


2. Wipe the power steering pump and mating surfaces.

3. Install the power steering pump in place, screw in the mounting bolts and screw on the nut. Tighten the pump mounting bolts to 10 N·m and the mounting nut to 25 N·m.

4. Wipe the accessory drive belt pulleys.

5. Put on the accessory drive belt, turn the tensioner clockwise until it stops and tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 22 N·m.

6. Wipe the dipstick tube and mating surfaces.

7. Install a new O-ring on the pan, insert the dipstick tube with the washer into the pan.

8. Screw on and tighten the oil dipstick tube mounting nuts to a torque of 10 N·m.

9. Install the pressure bar and tighten the oil dipstick bar mounting nut to a torque of 10 N·m.

10. Insert the dipstick.
