The muffler limits the noise produced by the compressor unit when air is supplied to and exhausted from the air springs.
The muffler consists of two molded plastic chambers that are joined together and contain two blocks of sound absorbing foam. Branch pipes are pressed on each side of the muffler, to which an air outlet pipe to the atmosphere and an air outlet pipe from the compressor unit are attached.
The second chamber located around the exhaust chamber forms the air intake muffler. On both sides, the air intake silencer has branch pipes to which the inlet pipe of the air intake filter and the inlet pipe of the compressor unit are attached. The air intake silencer is a hollow chamber not filled with sound-absorbing foam.
The air intake filter is connected by a tube to the inlet chamber of the air intake silencer of the compressor unit. The filter is located in the left rear corner of the body, away from possible sources of dirt and moisture.
The filter contains a filter element that removes particulate matter from the intake air before it enters the muffler or compressor block.
