CAUTION: Any leak detection spray used must contain a corrosion inhibitor and must not harm paint, plastic or metal coatings.
NOTE: It is recommended to use GOTEC LDS Leak Detection Spray, Landrover P/N STC 1090.
The recommended leak detection aerosol should be used to detect suspected leaks. In addition, this procedure must be carried out if the air suspension parts have been disturbed.
2. Clean the area around the suspected leak.
3. Systematically apply the contents of the recommended leak detection spray to all air suspension parts until the source of the leak is located.
4. If a leak is detected in any of the catches of the air suspension - an air element, a compressor, a receiver or a valve block - the only type of repair can only be the replacement of the corresponding assembly.
5. Use T4 to release pressure from the air suspension. Releasing and raising pressure in the air suspension system (60.50.38)
6.
WARNING: Different air lines of the air suspension system have different material properties and different wall thicknesses. To avoid future air line failures, ensure that new air lines are of the same material and wall thickness as the old ones.
CAUTION: A replacement air line is obtained by cutting the correct length of tubing from a new tubing that has the same Land Rover part number as the tubing to be replaced. Do not use tubing that has been cut from a roll or coil.
ATTENTION: During the repair, it is necessary to replace all existing heat shrink and abrasion sleeves.
CAUTION: Pneumatic line connectors must be located away from heat sources such as the exhaust system, and away from air line sections with heat shields installed on them.
CAUTION: Do not cut the ends of the air line. If the end of the air line is damaged, cut off the air line and add a new section using a Land Rover approved air line connector, or replace the entire line.
NOTE: Cut air lines only with hose cutter 204-494 (LRT 60-002), which can be ordered through SPX LTD, or the YA1000A Hose Cutter, which can be ordered through Snap-On Tools. Make sure that the end of the air line at the cut point is not damaged or nicked.
NOTE: Only Land Rover air lines have been tested for compliance at the required pressure and temperature.
NOTE: Only Land Rover approved air line connector RYC500210 has been tested for compliance at the required pressure and temperature.
NOTE: If cutting the air lines has erased the marks or removed the tape near the connector, the cut end of the air line must be clearly marked with colored tape or paint.
If leakage occurs through the connector, replace the Voss fitting and, if necessary, the end of the air line. Using a special tool, cut off the damaged end of the air line and replace it with a Land Rover approved air line with fittings.
7. If leakage occurs through one section of the air line, replace the air line or, if necessary, using a special tool, cut off the damaged end of the air line and replace it with a Land Rover approved air line with connectors.
8.
NOTE: If the repair fails, repeat the above steps until the leak is corrected.
Use T4 to pressurize the air suspension. Releasing and raising pressure in the air suspension system (60.50.38)
