Transfer Case Transmission Fluid Change: Except North American Market Countries (Freelander 1)

Operating procedure

1. Remove the lower engine guard.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.

2. Place a container under the transfer case.

CAUTION: Use caution when draining transmission fluid, which may be very hot.

3. Clean the area around the filler/inspection plug and the oil drain plug.

4. Remove the filler and drain plugs and discard the sealing washers. Allow the oil to drain.

NOTE: Drain the oil after the gearbox has fully warmed up.

5. Install a new washer on the drain plug and tighten the plug to 35 Nm.

Filling

1. Fill the transmission oil to the bottom edge of the filler hole. It is necessary to give the oil some time to equalize the level throughout the entire volume of the box.

FILLING CAPACITIES, LIQUIDS AND OILS, Lubrication system.

2. Install a new sealing washer onto the filler/inspection plug and tighten the plug to 35 Nm.

3. Reinstall the lower engine guard.
