Removal
1. Make the SRS system safe. Refer to the procedure: Standard Workshop Techniques (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to the procedure: Steering Wheel (211-04 Steering Column, Removal and Installation).
CAUTION: Wheels must be straight.
3. Release the steering column adjustment lever.
4. Remove the upper steering column cover.
5. Remove the lower steering column cover.
6. Remove the coil spring.
CAUTION: Prevent the coil spring rotor from rotating.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
CAUTION: The correct installation of the coil spring can be checked by the yellow mark visible through the window on the surface of the coil spring at the 8 o'clock position. If the mark is not visible, carefully turn the coil spring fully clockwise. Turn the coil spring counterclockwise 3.25 turns. The yellow mark should now be in the center position.
