The seat position sensor (Hall sensor) is mounted underneath the driver's seat. The sensor is activated by a target bracket attached to the seat rails. When the target bracket moves past the sensor, a signal is sent to the RCM. When the signal is received, which means that the seat has moved beyond a certain point, the RCM disables the second stage of the driver's airbag deployment; see the section on airbags.
