Removal
1. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: Place axle stands under the vehicle.
3. Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to procedure: Draining and Filling Transmission Fluid - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transmission, General Procedures).
4. To minimize coolant loss, clamp the appropriate hoses with clamps.
5. Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the transmission fluid cooler.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect any leaking coolant.

6. Release the automatic transmission fluid cooler.

7. Remove the transmission fluid cooler.
Fluid may leak. Plug all openings. Discard seals.
NOTE: Do not perform further disassembly if the component is removed only for access.

Installation
1. Install the transmission fluid cooler hoses.
2. Connect and secure the coolant hoses.
3. Install the transmission fluid cooler. Tightening torque: 10 Nm
4. Connect the ground cable to the battery and install the cover. Refer to the procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
5. Fill the transmission with transmission fluid. Refer to the procedure: Draining and Filling Transmission Fluid - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transmission, General Procedures).
