Engine crankcase ventilation system oil separator (Freelander 2)

Plug all openings. Use new caps. Clean the area around the element and remove any foreign material.

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

2. Raise the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

3. Remove the throttle body. Refer to procedure: Throttle Body (303-04B Fuel Delivery and Controls - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

Discard the component. Plug all openings.

10. Remove the fuel filter. Refer to procedure: Fuel Filter (310-01B Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

Installation

1. Install the engine crankcase ventilation oil separator. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

CAUTION: A new O-ring must be installed.

2. Install the engine crankcase ventilation oil separator, wiring harness bracket. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

3. Connect the crankcase ventilation hoses.

NOTE: Install new mounting clips.

4. Install the crankcase ventilation oil separator to the cylinder block bracket. Tightening torque: M6 10 Nm. M8 25 Nm

5. Install the fuel filter brackets. Tightening torque: 25 Nm

6. Connect the oil level indicator tube. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

7. Install the fuel filter. Refer to procedure: Fuel Filter (310-01B Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

8. Install the engine oil filler pipe. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

NOTE: Install a new clamp.

9. Install the intake manifold adapter. Tightening torque: 6 Nm

10. Install the intake manifold adapter, wiring harness bracket. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

11. Install the EGR pipe. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

Install a new element. Clean the mating surfaces from foreign material.

12. Install the ventilation duct.

13. Install the throttle body. Refer to procedure: Throttle Body (303-04B Fuel Delivery and Controls - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

14. Connect the ground cable to the battery. Refer to Procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
