Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

CAUTION: Never work on or under a vehicle that is supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.
Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the front wheels and tires assemblies.
4. Remove the cylinder block frame. For more information, refer to Cylinder Block Frame (12.25.06)
5. Remove the balance shaft.
- Remove and discard the 4 Torx head bolts.
- Remove the timing chain tensioner.
- Remove the tensioner plate.

Installation
1.
NOTE: Due to the specific gear ratio, it may take up to 7 full revolutions of the balance shaft to find the correct position.
Align the balance shaft.
- Clean the parts.
- Lubricate the parts.
- Insert a 4mm diameter pin to secure the shaft as shown in the figure.

2. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the first cylinder is at TDC and insert the special tool.

3. Install the balance shaft.
- Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
- Engage the drive chain.
- Install the drive chain tensioner.
- Tighten the new Torx head bolts (tightening torque 21 Nm).
- Remove the locking pin.
- Remove the special tool.
4. Install the cylinder block frame. For more information, refer to Cylinder Block Frame (12.25.06)
