Working fluid level (Discovery 3)

Brake system reservoir

1. Remove the auxiliary battery cover.

2. Make sure the brake fluid level is almost at the 'MAX' mark on the reservoir.; add liquid if necessary.

3. Clean the area around the filler cap of the tank, remove the cap.

4. If necessary, top up with the recommended fluid up to the 'MAX' mark on the reservoir. For further information, refer to Specifications (206-00 Brake System - General Information).

5. Install the filler cap on the tank.

6. Install the auxiliary battery cover.

Power steering fluid reservoir

CAUTION: To avoid overfilling, check/top up the working fluid with the ignition off and the system cold. Make sure the steering wheel is in the straight-ahead position, do not turn the steering wheel until the fluid level has been checked.

1. Make sure the fluid level is halfway between the 'MAX' and 'MIN' marks on the reservoir.; add liquid if necessary.

2. Clean the area around the filler cap of the tank, remove the cap.

3. If necessary, add the recommended fluid to the middle mark on the reservoir. For more information, refer to Specifications (211-02 Power Steering).

CAUTION: Do not add fluid above the 'MAX' mark.

4. Install the filler cap on the tank.

Windshield washer reservoir

1. Remove the windshield washer reservoir filler cap.

2. Add a mixture of recommended washer fluid and water to the reservoir until it reaches the bottom of the filter mesh in the washer reservoir filler neck.

3. Install the filler cap on the tank.

Engine oil and oil filter

CAUTION: North American and other region vehicles - except UK and European vehicles: The following maintenance tasks should be performed every 5 months or 12,000 km.

CAUTION: For vehicles operated under severe conditions, the following maintenance operations should be performed every 3 months or 6,000 km.

Automatic transmission
