Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
2. Remove the all-wheel drive control module. For more information, refer to Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Control Module (41.30.01)

NOTE: A car with a right-hand steering wheel arrangement is shown, while a car with a left-hand steering wheel arrangement is performed in reverse order.
Disconnect the 3 engine wire harness electrical connectors in the order shown. Move the 3 engine wire harness electrical connectors aside for easy access.

4. Remove the ECM mounting plate. Remove the 4 ECM mounting bolts.

5. Remove the ECM. Remove the ECM upper cover.

Installation
1. Install the ECM. Install the ECM upper cover.
2. Install the ECM mounting plate. Install and tighten the 4 ECM mounting bolts.
3. Connect the 3 electrical connectors of the engine wire harness.
4. Install the all-wheel drive control module. For more information, refer to Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Control Module (41.30.01)
5. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

NOTE: Only vehicles with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
Change the engine oil and filter. For more information, refer to Draining and filling engine oil (12.60.05)
7. Connect T4 to calibrate the new ECM.
