Removing
1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information refer to Specification.
2. Remove the four-wheel drive control unit. For more information refer to Four Wheel Drive Control Module (4WD) (41.30.01)

NOTE: Right hand drive vehicle shown, reverse order on left hand drive vehicle.
Disconnect the 3 engine harness electrical connectors in the order shown. Move aside the 3 engine wiring harness electrical connectors for easy access.
4. Remove the ECM mounting plate. Remove the 4 ECM mounting bolts.
5. Remove the ECM. Remove the ECM top cover.
Installation
1. Install the ECM. Install the ECM top cover.
2. Install the ECM mounting plate. Install and tighten the 4 ECM mounting bolts.
3. Connect the 3 electrical connectors of the engine wiring harness.
4. Install the four-wheel drive control unit. For more information refer to Four Wheel Drive Control Module (4WD) (41.30.01)
5. Connect the wire "masses" to the battery. For more information refer to Specification.

NOTE: Vehicles with Diesel Flue Filter only (DPF)
Change engine oil and filter. For more information, refer to Draining and Refilling Engine Oil (12.60.05)
7. Connect T4 to calibrate the new ECM.
