Dismantling
1. Remove the lower engine guard.
EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.
2. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
COLLECTORS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: MOD. K, volume 1.8, REPAIR WORK, Heat shield of the exhaust manifold: cars with air conditioning system.

3. Unscrew the 2 nuts securing the pipe flange to the intake manifold and remove the pipe.
4. Remove and discard the flange gasket.

5. Release the oxygen sensor harness from the clamp on the cylinder block.
6. Loosen and disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.

7. Loosen the generator bracket mounting bolt. Move the bracket away from the generator and remove the bracket.
8. Unscrew the generator bracket stud.

9. In the sequence shown in the figure, unscrew the 5 nuts securing the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
10. Remove the exhaust manifold and discard its gaskets.
Installation
1. Wipe the exhaust manifold and the mating surface on the cylinder head.
2. Install a new exhaust manifold gasket onto the cylinder head.

3. Install the exhaust manifold, tighten the nuts and tighten them to 45 Nm in the sequence shown in the figure.
4. Screw in the stud of the generator bracket.
5. Install the generator bracket.
6. Screw in the generator bracket mounting bolt and tighten it to a torque of 25 Nm.
7. Secure the oxygen sensor harness to the clamp on the cylinder block.
8. Connect the oxygen sensor connector.
9. Wipe the flanges of the inlet pipe and outlet manifold.
10. After installing the new gasket, connect the inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold, tighten the nuts and tighten them to a torque of 60 Nm.
11. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.

12. Reinstall the lower engine guard.
