Removal and installation the steering wheel (Freelander 2)

Removal

1. Place the SRS system in safe mode. Refer to procedure: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering (501-20, General Procedures).

2. Remove the driver air bag module. Refer to procedure: Driver Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).

3. Tightening torque: 48 Nm



4. Remove the two Torx screws. Disconnect the electrical connector.

CAUTION: To avoid damage, protect surrounding finish.

NOTE: Do not perform further disassembly if the component is removed only for access.

5. Remove the two Torx screws. Disconnect the electrical connector.

CAUTION: To avoid damage, protect surrounding finish.

6. Remove the steering column control switch wiring harness.

Installation

1. Install the steering wheel cover.

2. Install the wiring harness.

3. Set the cruise control switch.

4. Install the horn switch.

5. Install the steering wheel.

6. Install the driver air bag module. Refer to procedure: Driver Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
