Removal


1. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

2. Remove the fuel filter. Refer to procedure: Fuel Filter (310-01B Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

3. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.


4. Remove the lower engine cover. Refer to procedure: Engine Cover (501-02 Front Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

5.Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

Installation


1. Install the generator.

CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.


2. Screw in the two generator bolts. Tightening torque: 48 Nm

3. Install the accessory drive belt idler pulley. Tightening torque: 48 Nm

4. Install the accessory drive belt pulley dust cover.

5. Connect the generator electrical connector.



6. Connect the battery cable to the generator. Tightening torque: 24 Nm

7. Secure the power steering fluid reservoir.

8. Install the power steering pump. Tightening torque: 24 Nm

CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.


9. Install the fuel filter support bracket. Tightening torque: 20 Nm

10. Attach the oil level indicator tube to the fuel filter support bracket. Tightening torque: 10 Nm

11. Install the inner fuel filter screen.

12. Secure the upper coolant hose.

13. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

14. Install the lower engine guard. Refer to procedure: Engine Guard (501-02 Front Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

15. Install the fuel filter. Refer to procedure: Fuel Filter (310-01B Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).
