Before connecting or disconnecting wires and using electrical equipment, make sure that all electrical consumers are in the OFF position.
Make sure that the DONOR vehicle battery voltage is 12 V and that all electrical consumers of the non-starting vehicle are in the OFF position before connecting the wires.
Make sure there is no contact between the donor car and the non-starting car other than through wires.
NOTE: Disconnect the battery: If the remote control does not function, you will need to unlock the vehicle with the key.
Please follow the steps below in the order given:
- 1. Connect the end of the red (+) cable to the positive (+) terminal of the battery of the NON-START vehicle.
- 2. Connect the other end of the red (+) cable to the positive (+) terminal of the DONOR vehicle battery.
- 3. Connect the end of the black (-) cable to the ground (-) terminal of the DONOR vehicle battery.
- 4. Connect the other end of the black (-) cable to a reliable ground source, such as an unpainted metal surface or engine mount, at least 0.5 m (20 in) away from the battery or fuel lines of a vehicle that has NOT been started.
- 5. Start the engine of the DONOR vehicle and let it idle for a few minutes.
- 6. Start the engine of a car that has NOT STARTED.
- 7. Let the engines of both cars run for a few minutes, then turn off the engine of the DONOR car.
- 8. Disconnect the black (-) cable from the ground of the PREVIOUSLY NON-START vehicle.
