CAUTION: Diagnosis by substituting a component from another vehicle is NOT allowed. Substitution of control modules does not guarantee confirmation of the fault and, in addition, may cause additional faults in the vehicle being tested and/or in the vehicle from which the modules are removed.
1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of damage and system integrity.
NOTE: Particular attention should be paid to the following items for which DTCs cannot be registered:
- Check for contamination (e.g. dirt, dust, ice) around the parking aid sensors. If this problem exists, refer to the section on the parking assistance system in the vehicle's owner's manual.
- Check the correct installation and alignment of the position of the sensors relative to the bumper.
- False obstacle detection may occur when operating the front system uphill or downhill.
Electrical Factors:
- Fuse (And)
- Relay
- Wiring harness
- electrical connector (s)
- Sensor (And) front parking aid and holders
- Sensor (And) rear parking aid and holders
- Audio system For more information refer to: Infotainment system (415-01 Infotainment system, Diagnostics and checks).

- Parking assistance module
2. If an obvious cause of the problem you identified or the customer described is found, resolve it before proceeding to the next steps (if possible).
3. If the cause is not visually obvious, check for DTCs and refer to the Index diagnostic trouble codes (DTC).
