The vehicle can be equipped with one of two possible levels of parking assistance: rear only or front and rear.
The parking assistance system provides the driver with audible warnings about any obstacles in the way of the vehicle moving forward (if front sensors are installed) or in reverse when parking. The system consists of four ultrasonic sensors located in each bumper, a parking assistance module and a corresponding switch.
At low speeds, the parking assistance module uses ultrasonic sensors to monitor the area around the front and rear bumpers. If an object is detected in the monitored area, the module issues a warning through the audio system speakers. The sensors are capable of detecting solid objects, such as poles, walls and other cars, as well as semi-solid objects, such as wire mesh fencing. Objects very close to the ground may not be detected, as their low height prevents them from causing damage to the vehicle.
The parking assistance system consists of the following elements:
- Parking assistance system module
- Parking assistance switch
- 8 parking assistance sensors
The parking assist module communicates via the medium-speed CAN bus with the audio system via the integrated control module (ICM). If a dangerous object is detected, the audio system emits warning signals through the front or rear speakers. The medium-speed CAN bus is also used to collect information from other vehicle systems.
