Smoke from the exhaust (Freelander 2)

Vehicle exhaust emissions (smoke) contain choking, harmful and toxic chemicals such as carbon and nitrogen oxides, aldehydes, lead and aromatic hydrocarbons. The engine may only be operated with adequate exhaust or general ventilation and never in a confined space.

Gasoline engine

The exhaust from such an engine may not have any warning signs in the form of odor or irritation before the emissions begin to have harmful effects on health and life. The effects may be either immediate or delayed.

Diesel engine

Usually the presence of soot, a feeling of discomfort or irritation are sufficient warning of a dangerous concentration of exhaust gases.
