The centrifugal coolant pump is mounted on the front side of the engine and secured with seven bolts. The pump is driven directly by the timing belt of the camshaft and circulates coolant through the cylinder block and cylinder head, the cooling system and the heater circuit.
The coolant pump is capable of delivering coolant at a flow rate of 215 l/min at a pressure of 2.8 bar, creating a maximum external pressure in the system of 2.0 bar.
A large diameter coolant manifold located on the right side of the engine connects the rear of the coolant pump housing to the outlet of the thermal control module. A coolant manifold port on the coolant pump housing provides coolant return from the EGR heat exchanger.
