Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

Dismantling
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor.
3. Place a container under the sensor to collect any leaking coolant.

4. Using a long socket, carefully remove the coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and discard the gasket.
Assembly
1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the ECT sensor and the coolant pump.
2. Place a new sealing washer on the coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, screw it in and tighten it to 15 N·m (11 ft·lbs).
3. Connect the connector to the coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
4. Remove the container from under the engine.
5. Dispose of the coolant and wipe the container clean.

6. Connect the negative battery terminal.
7. Check the level of working fluid in the cooling system and top up if necessary.

8. If a new sensor has been installed, reconfigure the control system using the TestBook/T4 device.
