Dismantling
1. Remove the driveshaft to be repaired.

2. Check the universal joint for wear or damage.
3. Wipe the retaining rings and bearing cups.
CAUTION: Before disassembling, mark the position of the crosspiece relative to the universal joint eyes. This will help ensure proper assembly and reduce the likelihood of shaft imbalance.

4. Remove the retaining rings.
5. Tap the fork to release the bearing cups. Remove the bearing cups.
6. Remove the crosspiece from the forks.
7. Clean the forks and bearing cup holes.
Installation
1. Remove the bearing cups from the new crosspiece.
2. Check that all bearing needles are in place and correctly positioned inside the cups.
3. Check that the cups are one third full of grease.
4. Insert the new crosspiece with seals into one of the forks.
5. Partially insert one cup into the eye of the fork and insert the crosspiece tenon into the cup.
6. Insert the glass into the opposite eye.
7. Use a press to install both glasses into place.
8. Press both cups until the lower edge of the groove of the retaining ring appears.
CAUTION: If the cups are pressed in too deeply, they may be damaged.
9. Install the retaining rings and check that there is no axial play.
10. Insert the crosspiece into the second fork. Install the bearing cups and crosspieces as described in steps 4 through 8.
11. Install the driveshaft.
