General information
Always replace locking parts with absolutely identical ones.
Lock washers
Always fold back the locking edges of the washers and install new washers. Reuse of flap washers is prohibited. Make sure the new lock washer is the same type as the one you replaced.
Lock nuts
Always use two wrenches when loosening or tightening lock nuts, brake nuts and fuel pipes.
Cylindrical pins
When replacing the pin, the new pin must be matched to the diameter of the mating hole in the part.
Retaining rings
When installing new circlips, match them to the groove size.
Lock wire
Always use the correct type of lock wire. Install the lock wire so that its tension tightens the heads of the bolts or nuts it locks.
Keys and keyways
Clean the edges of the keyway from burrs with a file with a fine notch. Thoroughly clean the keyway before reinstalling the key.
Clean and inspect the key. The key is suitable for reinstallation only if it is indistinguishable from a new one. Any defects indicate the beginning of wear.
Lock pins
When installing new cotter pins, select them according to the size of the hole in the bolt or stud.
