Intake pipe — removal and installation (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Raise the vehicle on a four-post lift.

2. Remove the lower engine guard.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.

3. Unscrew the 2 nuts of the intake pipe clamping flange.

4. Unscrew the 3 nuts securing the inlet pipe to the middle section of the exhaust system.

5. Separate the downpipe from the center section of the exhaust system.

6. Remove and discard the flange gasket.

7. Separate the rubber suspension earring from the inlet pipe.

8. Remove the exhaust pipe.

Installation

1. Wipe the flanges of the inlet pipe and the lower flange of the turbocharger.

2. Install new gaskets, align flanges and tighten nuts.

3. Place the rubber suspension earring on the intake pipe.

4. Tighten the nuts securing the exhaust pipe to the middle section to a torque of 60 Nm.

5. Tighten the clamping flange fastening to a torque of 50 Nm.

6. Reinstall the lower engine guard.

7. Lower the vehicle.
