Spark plugs: up to May 2003 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.

ENGINE KV6 - MODIFICATION K, Camshafts of the left cylinder head, Soundproofing engine casing.

3. For right cylinder head only: Release the latches and disconnect the connectors from the ignition coils.

4. For right cylinder head only: Remove the 6 bolts securing the ignition coils to the right cylinder head valve cover and remove the coils.



5. For left cylinder head only: After marking the position, disconnect the high tension wires.

Installation

1. Adjust the spark plug gap to 1.00 mm.

2. Screw in the spark plugs and tighten them to a torque of 25 Nm.



3. For left cylinder head only: Connect the high tension wires.

4. For right cylinder head only: Install the ignition coils onto the spark plugs.

5. For right cylinder head only: Install the ignition coil mounting bolts to the right valve cover and tighten them to 9 Nm.

6. For right cylinder head only: Connect the connectors to the ignition coils and secure the connectors with clips.

7. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.

8. Connect the negative battery terminal.
