Spark plugs: since May 2003 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.

ENGINE KV6 - MODIFICATION K, Camshafts of the left cylinder head, Soundproofing engine casing.

3. Release the latches and disconnect the connectors from the ignition coils.

4. Unscrew the 6 bolts securing the ignition coils to the cylinder heads.

5. Pull the coils out of the cylinder heads.

6. Using a 16 mm spark plug socket, remove the spark plugs from both cylinder heads.

Installation

1. Check and, if necessary, adjust the interelectrode gap.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, Engine - petrol KV6.

2. Screw in the spark plugs and tighten them to a torque of 25 Nm.

3. Apply rubber lubricant to the lower coil seals and fully insert the coils into the cylinder heads.

4. Screw in the ignition coil mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm.

5. Connect the connectors to the ignition coils and secure the connectors.

6. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.
