To prevent accidental deployment, the SRS control module backup power supply must be discharged. After disconnecting the battery ground cable(s), wait at least one minute before attempting to repair or adjust the SRS or components near the SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

Always wear safety glasses when working on a vehicle equipped with an airbag or when working with the airbag module. Failure to do so may result in injury.

To minimize the possibility of accidental airbag deployment, do not use radio-transmitting passcode storage devices when working on the airbag and seat belt system. Failure to do so may result in injury.

To minimize the risk of injury in the event of premature air bag deployment, always carry the charged air bag module with the air bag and trim cover facing away from you. Failure to do so may result in injury.

To minimize the possibility of accidental deployment of air bags, live air bag modules must be placed on a work bench that is grounded and with only the trim panel facing up. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

Never touch the tester probes to the electrical connectors of the air bag modules or any other component of the air bag and seat belt system. Failure to do so may result in injury.

Painting the driver air bag module trim cover or instrument cluster may damage the trim cover and air bags. Never attempt to paint discolored or damaged air bag module trim covers or instrument cluster. Install a new component. Failure to do so may result in injury.

Make sure that sufficient time has passed after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before attempting to repair the airbag and restraint system (SRS). Failure to follow these instructions could result in injury.

NOTE: The removal procedure descriptions in this manual may contain installation steps.

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

2. Set the SRS system to the safe mode. Refer to the procedure: Standard Workshop Procedure (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

3. Remove the front seat belt buckle. Refer to procedure: Front Seat Belt Buckle (501-20A Seat Belt System, Removal and Installation).





6. Tightening torque: 25 Nm

Installation

1. When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
