Depending on vehicle specification, the driver's seat may include either manually adjustable lumbar support or electrically adjustable lumbar support.
Lumbar support, manually adjustable
The manually adjustable lumbar support is controlled by an adjustment wheel located on the side of the backrest. The wheel is connected by a cable to a flexible plate located behind the backrest. When the adjusting wheel is turned, the plate bends towards or away from the backrest. The manual adjustment system provides a high level of control over the increase in lumbar support.
Lumbar support, electrically adjustable
The power lumbar support features a single motor driven pump and air chambers. Air chambers are installed behind the seat back. The lumbar support motor is controlled by the lumbar support switch located on the seat frame. When the lumbar support switch is pressed, the lumbar support motor is energized and drives the pump to inflate or deflate the air chambers.
The power to the lumbar support motor is supplied and controlled by the CJB through the battery wattage regulator timer relay to the lumbar support control switch. The lumbar support control switch directs voltage through a hard wired connection to the lumbar support motor.
The position of the lumbar support is not stored in the seat control module.
