Ignition switch (Freelander 2)

Removal

1. Secure the SRS system. Refer to the procedure: Standard Workshop Procedure (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

2. Remove the driver lower air bag module. Refer to procedure: Driver Lower Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).

3. Remove the keyless start control unit trim panel.

NOTE: The illustration shows a right hand drive vehicle, a left hand drive vehicle has a similar arrangement.

4. Remove the lower steering column cover.



5. Set the steering column to the lowest position.



6. Remove the adjacent instrument panel trim.

NOTE: Use extreme caution when releasing the clamps.

7. Remove the ignition switch.

Installation

1. Install the elements back in place, working in reverse order.
