Starting from MY 2010
The gearshift indicator on the instrument panel comes on to notify the driver to upshift to improve fuel economy. If you follow the recommendations of the indicator, you can reduce fuel consumption by 5%.
Gear shift indicator:
The gearshift indicator is standard on vehicles with manual transmission. It is automatically activated every time the ignition is turned on. However, the driver can deactivate the indicator by pressing the button "Eco" on the control panel.
NOTE: Button "Eco" also turns the system on and off "Start/Stop".
For more information, see the chapter: Starting system (303-06C Starting system - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Vehicles built from 03/2009, Description and function).
Eco switch:
The gearshift indicator turns on to notify the driver to upshift. Depending on the reaction of the driver and driving conditions, the indicator works as follows:
- Goes out when shifting into high gear.
- Turns off before shifting up if driver requirements or road conditions change.
- Extinguishes after 12 seconds if the indicator is ignored. Any of two events lead to the reset of the indicator:
- the driver changes gear
- the driver increases speed after exiting a sharp turn
The gearshift indicator serves only as an aid to the driver; the choice of gear remains with the driver, who makes a decision taking into account traffic conditions.
Gear shift indicator:
- Does not recommend downshifting
- Cannot predict the slope and curvature of the road ahead on the course
