Fuel tank filler neck (new fuel vapor recovery system) (Discovery 1)

1. Relieve residual pressure in the fuel system.

2. Disconnect the battery.

3. Check the amount of fuel in the tank: if it is full, drain at least 22 liters of fuel.

4. Unscrew the six screws of the luggage compartment mat fastening trim and remove the trim.

5. Remove the right side panel of the luggage compartment.

6. Lift the carpet and sound insulation to access the rear right mudguard mounting.

7. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.

8. Loosen the bolt and nut securing the filler neck support bracket to the mudguard bracket.

Note: The ground wire is also attached in this location.


9. Unscrew the five bolts and nuts securing the mudguard.

10. Remove the mudguard.

11. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the fuel separator.



12. Remove the protective cap from the filler neck clamp.

13. Loosen the clamp.

14. Disconnect the hose from the filler neck and the internal ventilation tube.

15. Remove and discard the neck clamp.

16. Disconnect the pressure sensor tube fastening.

17. Disconnect the ventilation hose fastening.

18. Open the filler door.

19. Remove the filler cap.

20. Remove the filler neck from the vehicle.

21. Installation is carried out in reverse order. To make it easier to install the neck into the rubber spacer of the body, lubricate the spacer with a soap solution.
