A drive disk is mounted on the outer side of each outer CV joint. It is used by the wheel speed sensor to determine wheel and vehicle speeds.
Each rear axle shaft consists of 2 CV joints (internal and external), boots, and a one-piece bar that is held in the rear differential by a circlip.
The CV joints of the rear and front axle shafts have a similar design and principle of operation (for more information about CV joints, see section "axle joint"). The rear axle inner pivot hubs are held in place by forging the edge of the pivot housing.
