Removal and installation thermostat 4.4L (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2. Remove the thermostat housing.

• Place a container to collect the liquid.
• Disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing. Remove the 3 bolts.
• Remove and discard the sealing ring.

CAUTION: Wear eye protection.

Remove the thermostat.

• Clamp the thermostat housing in a vice.
• Loosen and remove the thermostat.

Installation

1. Clean the contact surfaces of the cover and thermostat housing.

2. When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.

• Install a new O-ring onto the thermostat.
• Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).

3. Add coolant to the cooling system and bleed air from it.
