Adjusting the front door hinges (Freelander 1)

Examination

1. Check whether the door fits tightly against the adjacent panels and whether the gap between the door and the corresponding body elements is the same.

Adjustment

1. Open the front door.

2. Place a wooden block on the jack and place the jack under the door. Use the jack to support the door.

3. Loosen the 4 door hinge mounting bolts.



4. Loosen the 2 Torx bolts securing the door lock retainer.

5. Use a jack to level the door.

6. Tighten the hinge mounting bolts.

7. Remove the jack and close the door to check that it is adjusted correctly.

8. If the door is adjusted correctly, tighten the door hinge mounting bolts to a torque of 30 Nm.

9. Adjust the door lock latch.
