Cables and drive of the ventilation sunroof of a 5-door car (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the glass cover.

2. Open the hatch.

3. Unfasten and remove the deflector.

4. Switch the hatch to the tilt lid mode.

If the sunroof motor does not work, use a tool to tilt the sunroof manually.

5. Remove the sunroof electric drive motor reducer.

6. Remove the 4 Torx screws securing the lifting mechanism to the roof.

7. Remove the rear cam guide.

8. Slide the drive forward and remove the cable guide clamp.

9. Remove the lifting mechanism and cable.

Installation

1. Make sure the cable tube is in place. Lightly lubricate the end of the cable tube.

2. Connect the cable to the tube and install the lifting mechanism on the roof.

3. Install the cable guide clamp and set the lifting mechanism to the lid tilt mode.

4. Reinstall the rear cam guide.

5. Replace and tighten the Torx screws securing the lift mechanism to the roof.

6. Install the sunroof electric drive gear motor.

7. Open the hatch.

8. Replace the deflector and secure it to the roof.

9. Replace the glass cover.
