Dismantling


1. Make sure the hatch is closed.

2. For vehicles prior to 2004 model year: Remove the lens from the front interior light.

3. For vehicles prior to 2004 model year: Remove the 2 Torx bolts securing the front interior light to the body.

4. For vehicles prior to 2004 model year: Remove the interior light from the ceiling panel, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the light.

5. For 2004 model year and later vehicles: Starting at the front of the front interior light, lift the light away from the ceiling, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the light.

6. Remove the ceiling panel in the area where it meets the sunroof trim.

7. Carefully lower the front of the ceiling panel to gain access to the gear motor.

8. Remove the 3 Torx screws securing the gear motor.

9. Disconnect the 2 Lucar type electrical connectors and one multi-pin electrical connector from the gear motor.

10. Remove the gear motor from the sunroof assembly, lower it down through the ceiling panel and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation


1. Install the gear motor onto the hatch assembly and install 1 Torx screw.

2. Connect 2 electrical connectors of the "Lucar" type to the gear motor.

3. Press the sunroof control button to raise the glass cover to its maximum height.

CAUTION: Be careful not to exceed the maximum panel tilt angle.


4. Attach the shoe to the gear motor.

5. Loosen the Torx screw to release the gear motor from its mount on the hatch.

6. Press the control key in the direction of opening the hatch. Hold the key until the gear motor stops (this will allow the gear motor and the lifting mechanism to synchronize).

7. Install the gear motor on the hatch, screw in and tighten the Torx screws to 6 Nm.



8. Carefully replace the ceiling panel.

9. Install the hatch cover.

10. For vehicles before 2004 model year: Position the front interior light against the ceiling panel and connect the electrical connector to it.

11. For vehicles prior to 2004 model year: Install the Torx headlight mounting bolts and tighten the headlight mounting bolts to 6 Nm.

12. For vehicles prior to 2004 model year: Install the front interior light diffuser.

13. For 2004 model year and later vehicles: Install the front interior light to the ceiling and secure it.
