Dismantling
1. Drain the coolant from the engine.

COOLING SYSTEM: MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining the coolant, flushing the system and filling.
COOLING SYSTEM: MOD. K, KV6 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing and filling the system.

2. Loosen the 2 clamps securing the hoses to the heater and disconnect the hoses.
3. Remove the control panel cover.

4. Remove 2 bolts from console support bracket. Remove 2 relays and bracket. For vehicles up to 2003 model year.

5. Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors from the heater control panel. For vehicles up to model year 2004.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the heater and release the diagnostic connector.
7. For models equipped with air conditioning in the cabin: Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporator.

8. Remove the bolt from the air duct of the left deflector of the control panel and remove the air duct from the heater.

9. NOTE: On models equipped with a passenger airbag, remove the bracket. Remove the bolt from the right instrument panel vent duct and remove the duct from the heater.

10. Remove the right window blower nozzle air duct.
11. Remove the air duct of the left window blower nozzle.
12. Remove the intake pipe.
13. Release the electrical cable from the two clamps on the heater.
14. Unscrew 2 nuts and one bolt securing the heater to the body and remove the heater.
NOTE: If disassembly was performed only to provide access to other system components, no further disassembly operations should be performed.

15. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the heater control panel.
16. Disconnect the cable from the mixing flap control lever.
17. Disconnect the cable from the distribution valve control lever.
18. Remove the heater control panel.
Installation
1. Install the control panel.
2. Connect the cable to the throttle valve control lever.
3. Connect the cable to the mixing flap control lever.
4. Connect the electrical connectors to the heater control panel.
5. Install the heater and secure it with nuts and bolt.
6. Replace the electrical cable and secure it to the heater with a clamp.
7. Install the intake pipe.
8. Connect the air duct of the right window blower nozzle to the heater.
9. On models equipped with a passenger airbag, install the holder. Connect the air duct of the right control panel deflector to the heater and secure it to the body with a bolt.
10. Connect the air duct of the left window blower nozzle to the heater.
11. Connect the air duct of the left deflector of the control panel to the heater and secure it to the body with a bolt.
12. For models equipped with air conditioning in the passenger compartment: Connect the electrical connector to the evaporator.
13. Connect the electrical connector to the heater and secure the diagnostic connector.
14. Connect the electrical connectors to the heater control panel.
15. Install the console bracket and tighten the bolt that secures it.
16. Insert the relay into the console bracket.
17. Replace the control panel.

18. Connect the hoses to the heater and secure them with clamps.
19. Fill the engine with coolant.
