Dismantling


1. Remove the lower engine guard.

2. Drain the oil from the transfer case.

3. Raise one rear wheel so that you can rotate the driveshaft to access the bolts.

4. To facilitate subsequent assembly, apply position marks to the front propeller shaft.

5. Unscrew 6 nuts and remove the bolts securing the propeller shaft to the drive flange of the transfer case.

6. Remove the propeller shaft from the transfer case drive flange and tie it to the side.

CAUTION: When removing the three-roller joint from the transfer case, care must be taken. To avoid damaging the boot, it must not be completely stretched, and the joint housing must be protected from impacts.

7. Unscrew the 3 nuts securing the damper to the rear axle drive shaft housing.



8. Remove the damper.

9. Unscrew the 2 remaining nuts securing the rear axle drive shaft housing.

10. Remove the rear axle drive shaft housing.

11. Remove and discard the O-ring.

12. Remove and save the spacer washer.

Installation


1. Clean the rear axle drive shaft housing and the mating surface on the transfer case.

2. Wash the spacer washer.

3. Install the spacer washer onto the transfer case.

4. Lubricate the new O-ring with transfer case transmission oil and install the seal into the shaft housing.

5. Install the rear axle drive shaft housing.

6. Install the damper and tighten the nuts using finger force.

7. Fit the remaining crankcase mounting nuts and tighten all nuts. Tightening torque 25 Nm.

8. Check that the mating surfaces of the propeller shaft flange and the rear axle drive shaft flange are clean.

9. Install the cardan shaft on the drive flange of the transfer case so that the previously applied marks are aligned. Tighten the nuts and bolts to a torque of 40 Nm.

10. Fill the transfer case with oil to the required level.

11. Lower the rear wheel and remove the jack.

12. Reinstall the lower engine guard.
