Replacing transmission oil in PG1 gearbox (Freelander 1)

Operating procedure

1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Remove the lower engine guard.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.

3. Place a container under the gearbox to collect the transmission oil.

4. Clean the area around the filler/inspection plug and the oil drain plug.

CAUTION: Use caution when draining hydraulic fluid, which may be very hot.

5. Remove the filler/inspection plug.

6. Unscrew the drain plug.

7. Allow the oil to drain completely.

Filling

1. Clean the filler/inspection and drain plugs.

2. Install a new washer on the drain plug and tighten the plug to 35 Nm.

3. Fill the gearbox with the required grade of oil through the filler/level control hole. The oil should be filled to the lower edge of the hole. It is necessary to give the oil some time to equalize the level throughout the entire volume of the gearbox.

FILLING CAPACITIES, LIQUIDS AND OILS, Lubrication system.

4. Install a new sealing washer onto the filler/inspection plug and tighten the plug to 35 Nm.



5. Reinstall the lower engine guard.

6. Lower the vehicle.
