Upper cladding (without hatch) (Freelander 2)

CAUTION: Make sure the wiring harnesses are correctly positioned.

NOTE: If the headliner must be replaced, be sure to install the washer hose and wiring harness in their original locations. Failure to follow these instructions may prevent the overhead side airbag module from deploying.

NOTE: Mark the position of the wiring harnesses to facilitate installation.

1. Remove both A-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: A-pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

2. Remove the upper trim panels from both B-pillars. Refer to procedure: Upper B-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

3. Remove both C-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: C-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

4. Remove the upper trim panels from both D-pillars. Refer to procedure: D-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

5. Remove the retaining ring in the luggage compartment.



6. Remove the rear side trim panel.



7. Remove the glove compartment. Refer to procedure: Glove Compartment (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).



8. Passenger Side: Remove the front door jamb trim panel. Refer to procedure: Front Door Jamb Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

9. Passenger side: Remove the speaker grille.









13. Remove the interior rearview mirror. Refer to procedure: Interior Rearview Mirror (501-09 Rearview Mirrors, Removal and Installation).



14. Remove the overhead console. Refer to procedure: Overhead Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

15. Remove the rear interior light.



16. Remove both sun visors.



17. Remove the four passenger handrails.



18. Adjust the front seats to the full forward position.

19. Set the rear seats to the forwardmost position.



20. Release the rear headliner.



21. Release the front door seals.



22. Disconnect the windshield washer hose.



23. Remove the ceiling trim.

NOTE: This step requires the assistance of a second mechanic.

24. Remove the tire pressure monitoring system receiver.

NOTE: Do not perform further disassembly if the component is removed only for access.

25. Remove the washer nozzle hose.

NOTE: Install this item in the position noted during removal.

26. Remove the wiring harness from the headliner.

NOTE: Mark the position of the wiring harnesses to facilitate installation.

Installation

1. Align the yellow tape on the wiring harness with the corner of the headliner.

CAUTION: Make sure the wiring harnesses are correctly positioned.

2. Install the washer nozzle hose.



3. Install the tire pressure monitoring system receiver.

4. Install the ceiling trim.

NOTE: This step requires the assistance of a second mechanic.

5. Connect the washer nozzle hose.

6. Secure the front door seals.

7. Secure the rear part of the headliner.

8. Return the rear seats to their original position.

9. Return the front seats to their original position.

10. Install passenger handrails.

11. Install sun visors.

12. Install the rear interior light.

13. Install the overhead console. Refer to procedure: Overhead Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

14. Install the interior rearview mirror. Refer to procedure: Interior Rearview Mirror (501-09 Rearview Mirrors, Removal and Installation).

15. Connect the headliner wiring harness and secure the clamps.

16. Install the speaker grille.

17. Install the front door jamb trim panel. Refer to procedure: Front Door Jamb Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

18. Install the glove compartment. Refer to procedure: Glove Compartment (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

19. Install the rear side trim panel.

20. Install the retaining ring in the luggage compartment and tighten the Torx screw. Tightening torque: 25 Nm

21. Install the "D" pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: "D" Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

22. Install the C-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: C-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

23. Install the B-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: Upper B-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

24. Install the A-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: A-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).
