Front door exterior handle (Freelander 2)

NOTE: This procedure describes the removal and installation of the left and right front door outside handle.

NOTE: If removing the outside handle while removing other interior door components, it is recommended to release the outside door handle and screw cover from the inside of the door.

1. Left Side: Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to procedure: Door Lock Cylinder (501-14 Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems, Removal and Installation).

2. Right side: Release the two clamps.



3. To remove the front door outer handle without removing the door trim padding.



4. To remove the front door outer handle after removing the door trim padding and window regulator.

Installation

1. When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.



2. Using a wire of appropriate length, hold the lock lever in a spring-loaded state while pressing on the outer handle.
