Fuel filler cap mechanism (Freelander 2)
The filler cap is electrically operated and is locked and unlocked by an actuator and a plastic pin. The actuator is located behind the filler cover body and controls the pin to engage and disengage the bushing on the filler cover support bracket arm.
The filler cap actuator is rigidly connected to the CJB and is controlled by the vehicle's central locking system. The CJB reverses the polarity of the connection to +power and to actuator ground, allowing the pin to be moved in both directions to lock and unlock. When unlocked, the fuel filler cap is manually opened to gain access to the fuel filler cap.
