Anti-corrosion protection of new elements (Freelander 2)

All new items should be inspected for damage during shipping, such as scratches or dents. Depending on the extent of the damage, the following may be required:

Undamaged new elements

• Do not strip the cathodic primer coating.
• Clean thoroughly using silicone remover and wipe dry.

Slightly damaged new elements

• Sand the inside of the scratch.
• Sand the surrounding surfaces thoroughly.
• Clean thoroughly using silicone remover and wipe dry.
• Apply anti-corrosion primer to exposed areas.

Damaged new elements (impact marks, dents)

• Smooth out any dents and sand the surface down to bare metal.
• Apply polyester filler (only to bare metal surface).
• Apply putty.
• Lightly sand the entire piece.
• Clean thoroughly using silicone remover and wipe dry.
• Apply anti-corrosion primer to exposed areas.

The flanged trims on the bonnet and doors (including the tailgate) must be treated with a special sealant if they have not already been treated.
