Instrument panel control unit
NOTE: If a unit or component is likely to fail and the vehicle is still under manufacturer's warranty, refer to the warranty manual before replacing the component (section B1.2) or determine if there is any previously approved special program in operation.
NOTE: Universal Scan Tools may not read the listed codes or may only read 5-digit codes. Match the 5 digits from the scan tool with the first 5 digits of the 7-digit code listed to identify the problem (the last 2 digits give additional information read by the diagnostic system approved by the manufacturer).
NOTE: Always use a digital multimeter when performing voltage or resistance tests (DMM) accurate to three decimal places and with a valid calibration certificate. When testing resistance, be sure to consider the resistance of the DMM leads.
NOTE: Before starting diagnostic programs using troubleshooting tests, check and correct major problems.
NOTE: Inspect the connectors for signs of water intrusion and their pins for damage and (or) traces of corrosion.
NOTE: If DTCs are logged and there is no problem after performing troubleshooting tests, an intermittent problem may be the cause. Be sure to check for loose connections and corroded contacts.
Description and operation
A detailed description of the instrument panel system is contained in the relevant section «Description and operation» in the repair manual. For more information, see chapter: Instrument panel (413-01 Instrument panel, Description and function).
DTC | Description | Possible reason | Action |
B1184-62 | Steering lock output | Signal matching error | Check the power supply to the steering column lock from the CJB. Check the CJB for DTCs and refer to the appropriate DTC index. For more information, please refer to the chapter: Communication Network (418-00 Module communication network, Diagnostics and checks). |
B1A14-96 | Signaling device of the control unit of the passive safety system (RCM) | LED failure | Install a new instrument panel. For more information, see chapter: Instrument panel (413-01 Instrument panel, Removal and installation). Refer to the new unit/component installation note at the beginning of the DTC index. |
B1A84-41 | Vehicle configuration data | Checksum error when loading data from flash | Install the latest available software using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system |
B1A84-81 | Vehicle configuration data | Invalid vehicle configuration data received | Check/correct the vehicle configuration file using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system. |
C2002-62 | Unauthorized change of odometer value | DTC is set if one or more odometer readings do not match | Clear the DTCs, turn the ignition off and on again and recheck |
U0010-87 | Medium speed CAN communication bus | Multiple CAN data loss for other systems | Perform the troubleshooting tests associated with this DTC using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system |
U0010-88 | Medium speed CAN communication bus | Bus connection break | Perform the troubleshooting tests associated with this DTC using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system |
U0140-08 | Loss of communication with the body control module | No messages are received from the central junction box for a period longer than the timeout period | Perform the troubleshooting tests associated with this DTC using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system |
U0208-08 | Loss of communication with "seat control unit A" | No messages are received from the driver's seat module for a period longer than the timeout period | Check the DSM for DTCs and refer to the appropriate DTC index. For more information, see the chapter: Seats (501-10 Seat, Diagnostics and checks). Perform CAN network integrity checks using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system. |
U0300-62 | Internal control unit software incompatibility | Received configuration data is different from saved data | Make sure the correct instrument panel is installed |
U3000-46 | Control block | EEPROM write error | Check instrument panel power and ground circuits, clear DTCs, and recheck. If the DTC is still logged, install a new instrument panel. For more information, see chapter: Instrument panel (413-01 Instrument panel, Removal and installation). Refer to the new unit/component installation note at the beginning of the DTC index. |
U3000-48 | Control block | An internal software error has been detected | Check instrument panel power and ground circuits, clear DTCs, and recheck. If the DTC is still logged, install a new instrument panel. For more information, see chapter: Instrument panel (413-01 Instrument panel, Removal and installation). Refer to the new unit/component installation note at the beginning of the DTC index. |
U3000-4B | Control block | Internal overheating | Check for additional DTCs and refer to code index, clear DTCs and recheck/check for reoccurrence of this condition |
