The exhaust manifold is secured to the right side of the cylinder head by a gasket and 9 fasteners. Spacers mounted on the fasteners allow for expansion and contraction of the manifold while supporting clamping loads.

The manifold houses a variable nozzle tube compressor (VGT) and a port for the EGR gas transfer tube. A heat shield is mounted on four mounting elements above the exhaust manifold and VGT to protect other components and prevent accidental contact with hot exhaust system components.

The electronically controlled VGT is secured to the exhaust manifold outlet flange with three bolts. For more information, refer to the chapter:
