Technical features


The TD4 engine has the following key features:
  • 16-valve, DOHC layout, 4 valves per cylinder.
  • The fuel injectors are located centrally relative to the combustion chamber.
  • Roller valve levers with hydraulic clearance compensators.
  • Garrett variable nozzle turbocharger with rotating electronic actuator (REA).
  • Pierburg electronically controlled EGR valve with Visteon EGR heat exchanger.
  • Bosch 3rd generation fuel system with common rail fuel injection technology.
  • Piezoelectric injectors with 7 holes (provide 5 injections per working stroke).
  • Improved Bosch EDC 16 engine management system.
  • The intake manifold features adjustable vortex formation and port shut-off technology.
  • Electronic intake throttle valve for controlled engine shutdown.
  • Balancing system.
  • Aluminum alloy cylinder head and double-walled cast iron cylinder block.
  • The design of the cylinder head ensures optimal air swirl formation across the entire range of engine crankshaft speeds.
  • Exhaust gas cleaning is performed using a catalytic converter specially designed for the diesel engine and an optional DPF filter.
  • Steel crankshaft with dual flywheel and torsional vibration damper.
  • The exhaust emissions comply with EUCD Stage 4 legislation.
